5 recommended marches and all 34 locations open on Sundays in Paris

On Sunday, the marchets and supermarkets are open in the morning, but they close for business at noon. Many shops seem to spend family time in the afternoon, so if you go to the shops just before they close, you’ll often be told, “We’re closed for the day, have a good Sunday”, so be careful.

I can’t make financier because the store is closed and I couldn’t buy sugar, so it’s not going to be a good Sunday! I think… lol.

There are a total of 34 restaurants open on Sundays. I recommend five places in red.

●On Sundays, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the bustling morning market and the affordable outdoor marché in Aligur (9:00-13:30). Of course, you can also visit the indoor market (9:00-13:30).

●You can buy lunch at Marche Saint-Eustache Les Halles (7:00-15:00) in Les Halles, where you can stop by to do some shopping at the Louvre or the Marais, and eat it in the park.

●If you’re not familiar with the marché, head to Raspail, a name synonymous with natural marchés. If you’re not familiar with the marché, go to Raspail, a well-known natural marketplace, where you’ll find all sorts of goodies to buy and enjoy (9:00-15:00).

●A great place to stop off for 30 minutes to an hour while running errands on the west side of the Marais or changing trains is the Marché Bastille (7:00-15:00). It’s more than enough of a detour for a stopover.

●If it’s raining, don’t hesitate to visit the Marché couvert Batignolles (8:30am to 2pm). If it’s raining, don’t hesitate to head to the Marché couvert Batignolles (8:30-14:00).

Be aware that most of the marchés close early on Sundays. Les Enfants Rouge also closes at 5pm.

Marché Saint-Eustache-Les Halles

The marché is held near the park in Les Halles. Best of all, it’s accessible. It’s a good place to go before you go shopping in the Marais, and it’s close to the area where they sell a lot of cooking equipment. It’s not very cheap or nice, but it’s open all day on Thursdays and until after noon on Sundays, which is convenient.

The very famous BioMarche. The things are good, and the shops where you can have your own basket to be weighed are fun, but I’m a little concerned about the “Raspail Marché” tourist prices… It’s not far from BonneMarches, so I’d recommend a day of shopping while also stopping at Raspail. There are a lot of tourists and expats here. Many of them speak English.

One of the largest marchés in Paris. It’s too big to go around, so I don’t know what kind of shops were there, but since it’s so big, I imagine you can find most of the things you need. If you get there early in the morning before 9:00 am and there is a long queue, you will be able to shop without any problems. My friend said, “The foie gras I bought here was really good”.

Why the marché in Saint-Honoré? It’s an area where you’ll want to say.Saint-Honoré is a street of world high brand stores. It’s open until night on Wednesdays and until the afternoon on Saturdays, so you can stop in while you shop. Nearby, I recommend Restaurant LUMEN, an Italian restaurant near the Louvre, which is really good. Highly recommended.

It’s a marché in the Marais area, it’s indoors, and it’s a great place to have lunch here after you’ve done some shopping, since it’s indoors and there aren’t many days off. If the weather is nice, you can buy some prepared food here and eat it in the Parc du Temple, a little further west.This is the oldest indoor marché in Paris, built in 1615 and renovated in the 90s. The name comes from the color of the clothes of the orphanage (moved in 1777) that once stood next door. There is a very good bistro called “Les Enfants Rouges” nearby, which is also recommended.

Marché Monge

This marché is one of the outdoor marches that were created during the indoor marché closure movement of the 1920s, like the marché at Raspail and others. The quality is good and the prices are not too high. It’s not convenient enough to go all the way there, but if you want to go to the Botanical Gardens or the Grand Mosque, you should go there. The mosque is really beautiful.

This marché is the most building-like of all the indoor marches. It’s in the St. Germain area and it’s easy to get to, but slightly more expensive. It’s a good place to stop when it’s raining or when you’re in the area, but it’s often crowded with tourists, so it’s all rather expensive. When we tried to buy a fruit, we were charged a premium without a cash register and the change was cheated, so it was a bad impression, but the fishmonger was a nice guy, but expensive.

It’s an indoor marché, but in an area I’m a little uncomfortable with. I don’t like the Strasburg St. Denis station because it smells like pee… the stuff they have isn’t bad and the prices are reasonable. I might stop by if I’m passing by, but I don’t feel like I need to go all the way there.

The largest indoor marché in Paris. It’s a good place to stop by in the morning on a moving day because it’s close to Gare de l’Este and Gare du Nord. They have a lot of deli items, so it’s fun to buy a deli here and eat it while taking the TGV. The prices are a little reasonable. There are a lot of shops, so I recommend you to buy at the shops where the locals are lined up, because they don’t like expensive shops.

A small marché not far from Republique and other places. Not a place to go out of your way, but it’s just around the corner from Le Petit Cambodge, a reputable Cambodian restaurant and Artazart, a design-oriented bookstore, and Le Verre Volé, a reputable restaurant with a Japanese chef

This is one of the marchés I go to the most. I often take my friends there when they come, it’s a great place to see and reasonably priced. There is also a bakery called Blé sucré, famous for its croissants, and the best restaurant in Paris, Virtus (a Michelin star), is close by. There is a great cheese shop in the indoor marché, the larger of the two shops.

The marché is right near Bercy station, which I use when I go to Burgundy and other places. There is a big Bercy park nearby, and the Seine River is just beyond, so you can go shopping for a picnic. I’ve heard some people say that the quality of the food is not good enough for the high price, so you’d be missing out if you don’t choose well. You’ll also need to be careful that it’s open in the evening on Wednesdays.

It’s affordable and the shoppers were all very friendly marchers. There’s a park in Vincennes just around the corner, so if the weather is nice, you can shop here and go to the park. There’s a patisserie called Vandermeersch just around the corner, so be sure to get a Kugloff here!

Marche on the way to the Bastille from Place de la Nations. The prices aren’t too bad, but it’s not an area with anything to offer, and there are a lot of demonstrations around here on weekends, so I wouldn’t particularly recommend it. It’s a good place to go if you’re staying nearby.

There are a lot of Asian people around Piazza Italia, so you can find Asian foodstuffs, and overall foodstuffs are reasonably priced. There are many Asian restaurants around here, so you can go to a marché and buy some honey as a souvenir, then have pho for lunch. Don’t worry about the lack of registered restaurants, it’s the work of the French. As you can see in the picture, there are definitely more than 10 restaurants, lol.

The area has several good Asian restaurants. It’s affordable and has a nice atmosphere, but the location is inconvenient. You can stop by if you’re staying at the nearby train station on line 7, but if not, I wouldn’t particularly go there. There’s a lot of Vietnamese food around here, so if you’re going for it, I think your final destination should be here “Dong Tam”.

Marché Jeanne d’Arc

The marché is affordable and has a nice atmosphere. It’s small so you don’t have to go all the way there, but you can do it while you’re looking at the church of Jeanne d’Arc and the murals depicting Bach, for example, as the name implies. The children’s clothing outlet VenteEphemere is also less than a 10-minute walk away.

It’s a small marché, but it has a good reputation. It’s just a 10-minute walk from here to the flea market in Vanves. It’s the best Sunday to buy some breakfast dishes and go to Petite Ceinture, an old railroad station park near here, and then head to the flea market.

Marche near the flea market in Vanve. If you’re going on a Sunday, you can stop here and then go to the flea market. It’s affordable but not particularly good, so you don’t have to go there for this one, but if you want to go there while you’re at the flea market, this is a good place to go.

The Marché de la Convocation has been recommended to me by someone who lives in Paris. It’s not moderately central, so it’s reasonably priced, and there’s also a Korean restaurant near here that his wife (who is Korean) likes best in Paris, Seongsan, and a pastry chef, Laurent Duchêne, who also works for a Japanese guy, is super tasty, so it’s a good idea to combine a lot of things. Buy some honey, spices, and cheese as a souvenir, have lunch at Songsang, and then stop at Duchêne’s for chocolate and croissants on the way home, etc…

Marché Grenelle

It’s a wonderful marché, one stop from my house, directly connected to the station, and under an elevated train tracks, so you don’t get wet in the rain. It’s an area where land prices are fairly high, so it might be expensive if you don’t choose the right shop. I often buy a block of pork belly at the butcher’s shop just inside the marché from Grenelle station. They sell a terrine type of pork belly for 1€ each, so I sometimes buy that too (lol). I don’t think there is anything that good for vegetables… I’d say the one on the right side of the station, much further away from the station, but maybe not so great…

It’s close to PSG’s second stadium Stade Princes, Roland Garros and the Stade Francais Paris rugby stadium. Prices are reasonable and you can also stop by Sous L’Equateur down the street where you can buy freshly roasted beans.

Passy is in an upscale residential area, very close to the Eiffel Tower and other landmarks, so it’s a nice place to live. The glass block windows and other elements of the atmosphere are also nice, so it’s nice to have lunch here and then walk in the afternoon to the Palais de Chaillot on the other side of the Eiffel Tower.

The marché is located a little further out in the suburbs. It’s safe to say that it’s open indoors, and they are open many business days, even on rainy days. There are several cafes along the street where you can have lunch. But if you want to get here, you can go to Marché Couvert de Levallois) (Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays: it’s wide open if you go from 7 to 1pm) on the other side of the same station, about a 10-minute walk away. They have a wide selection of products and are inexpensive. They also have various shops nearby.

Marché couvert Batignolles

This is an indoor marché in a suburban area. The Côte de Bouffes (loin steak with beef bones) was about 27 €, which is about 30% cheaper than what you’d get in the 7th arrondissement, but the outside wall of the marché is also quite graffiti-heavy and a bit less Parisian. There is a beautiful park nearby, so you can buy some snacks to eat in the park before you go.

Marché Ornano

The marché is close to the flea market in Clignancourt. It’s also a 10 minute walk from my favorite restaurant, L’arcane. It’s very inexpensive, but it’s surprisingly crowded and you’ll probably get tired if you go there on the way to see the sights (lol).

Marché couvert La Chapelle

The Marche is located further north from Gare du Nord. The area may be a little bit difficult for Japanese tourists to visit, but there are many good shops around here. If you look at a partridge for 6€ per bird, I think you can get it for about 50-70% of the city price. If you go there, I recommend you to go to Cafe Romi beyond the overpass, or BOB’S BAKE SHOP in the south.

Marché Ney

The marché is located in the flea market at Clignancourt. It’s an affordable place, but it’s not a place you want to go unless you’re going to Clignancourt or something. If you go there, you should stop by La Recyclerie, which is a cute cafe. Sometimes they have a garage sale.

Marché Place des Fêtes

One of the 25 marchés that came into existence after the closure of the indoor marchés (1870-1900). This one was founded in 1893, and it’s affordable because it’s in the 19th arrondissement and a suburban area of Paris with low land prices. You can get exotic foods from Africa and the Middle East, but it’s a bit far away. If you’re staying at an Airbnb or other nearby place, I’d suggest going there.

Marché Jean Jaurès

The Marché is located in Parc de la Villette, next to the Paris Philharmonic concert hall. If you need to go to either of these places, stop by. They are much cheaper than the city center. But it’s not an area I would go out of my way to visit unless I had to, so just do it when your schedule allows.

Marché Joinville

Anyway, the marché here was cheap. I asked for 500 grams of food in 1 kilo increments, but they said “you can’t do that”, and then they gave me 1.5 kilos as a freebie, and I couldn’t eat it all…(lol) Aligre is cheap, but I think this is the cheapest marché in Paris! If you want to stock up on food for a large number of people at a reasonable price, please do so. If you want to stock up on a lot of cheap food in a big group, come to this marché. If you go around here, I would recommend lunch at Paname Brewing Company, a little further along the Canal Saint-Martin. It’s a very cool shop facing the canal.

Marché Mortier

It’s affordable, but it’s in the 20th district and there’s not much to see around, so I don’t think you’ll be going there. If you’re staying in the area, go there. It’s not a tourist area and it’s a marché that gives you a sense of everyday life in Paris.

Marché Pyrénées

This might not be another area where people don’t have much to do. It’s not a big marché, so don’t bother going there, but if you’re in the area, there’s La Bellevilloise that hosts live music concerts along with this one. It might be fun to go to It’s open from noon to midnight on weekends.

Marché Réunion

It’s towards Père Lachaise Cemetery, so there doesn’t seem to be much to do in the area other than go to the graves or to Sot-l’y-laisse for lunch. If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by Sot-l’y-laisse if you’re there.
