The marché is busy on Wednesdays because schools are closed and some restaurants are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so some of the restaurants make a big stocking up on this day. A total of 37 markets are open on this day. I recommend the place marked with a red circle.

Five recommended Wednesday marches

I think the best market on Wednesday is Presidan Wilson (7:00-15:00) in IENA, although it’s a bit expensive. Chefs from starred restaurants come here frequently to buy, and you can find good and rare ingredients. Other than that, I recommend the following four places.

Thankfully, Marché Saint-Honoré (12:30-20:30), which is open until nighttime, is a great place to stop by while you’re doing a little elegant shopping.
Marché Couvert des Anglais Rouge, a traditional indoor marché in the Marais, is also open late (8:30 to 20:30) and can be used as a stopover before going out for dinner in the evening!
If you’re staying in Montparnasse, you can go to Edgar Kinne, just outside the tower (7:00 – 2:30 pm).
If you’re planning to go to Sacre Coeur in Montmartre, I recommend the Marché Couvert Batignolles, which is open no matter the weather and has a good selection (8:30-13:00/3:30-20:00).

I’ll write down the details of the five recommendations. I’ll list all the marchés in the second half of this article, so take a look at them all if you have the time.

Personally, I often go to La Motte Piquet Grenoule marché, which I don’t recommend here because the meat, fish, and cheese are good but the vegetables are not as good as they should be, but it’s good for everyday use for people who live in Paris.

Marché Président Wilson

One of the most famous marchés in Paris. Many famous chefs come here to buy their wares. The potato shop in the picture is not only selling potatoes, but also mushrooms from autumn to winter. Mr. Joël Thiébault, one of the leading grocers of this marché, has retired, but a young man of about 30 years old is taking over the same field. Not only are the vegetables rich and delicious, but depending on the season, you can also buy unusual vegetables such as garland chrysanthemums and yellow chives.

Why the marché in Saint-Honoré? It’s an area where you’ll want to say.Saint-Honoré is a street of world high brand stores. It’s open until night on Wednesdays and until the afternoon on Saturdays, so you can stop in while you shop. Nearby, I recommend Restaurant LUMEN, an Italian restaurant near the Louvre, which is really good. Highly recommended.

It’s a marché in the Marais area, it’s indoors, and it’s a great place to have lunch here after you’ve done some shopping, since it’s indoors and there aren’t many days off. If the weather is nice, you can buy some prepared food here and eat it in the Parc du Temple, a little further west.This is the oldest indoor marché in Paris, built in 1615 and renovated in the 90s. The name comes from the color of the clothes of the orphanage (moved in 1777) that once stood next door. There is a very good bistro called “Les Enfants Rouges” nearby, which is also recommended.

Marché Edgar Quinet

This is a marché located just below the Montparnasse Tower. The size of the marché is large and the prices are reasonable. There are a lot of people who stay in this area. I think it’s fun to buy a lunch or breakfast here and then go back to your room to eat it. Both Wednesday and Saturday are finished after noon, but I hope your timing is right. This is also a marché that has been around since the 1890s when Paris was being rebuilt.

This is an indoor marché in a suburban area. The Côte de Bouffes (loin steak with beef bones) was about 27 €, which is about 30% cheaper than what you’d get in the 7th arrondissement, but the outside wall of the marché is also quite graffiti-heavy and a bit less Parisian. There is a beautiful park nearby, so you can buy some snacks to eat in the park before you go.

Marché Baudoyer

This is the marché across from the BHV, the home center of Paris. It’s not cheap because the area is full of tourists and office workers, but it’s very convenient to stop by and do some shopping. I think it’s a good idea to go there before you go shopping in the Marais. It’s a short walk to the Seine River, so it’s nice to buy some prepared food and have lunch by the river.

This marché is one of the outdoor marches that were created during the indoor marché closure movement of the 1920s, like the marché at Raspail and others. The quality is good and the prices are not too high. It’s not convenient enough to go all the way there, but if you want to go to the Botanical Gardens or the Grand Mosque, you should go there. The mosque is really beautiful.

This marché is the most building-like of all the indoor marches. It’s in the St. Germain area and it’s easy to get to, but slightly more expensive. It’s a good place to stop when it’s raining or when you’re in the area, but it’s often crowded with tourists, so it’s all rather expensive. When we tried to buy a fruit, we were charged a premium without a cash register and the change was cheated, so it was a bad impression, but the fishmonger was a nice guy, but expensive.

It’s an indoor marché, but in an area I’m a little uncomfortable with. I don’t like the Strasburg St. Denis station because it smells like pee… the stuff they have isn’t bad and the prices are reasonable. I might stop by if I’m passing by, but I don’t feel like I need to go all the way there.

The largest indoor marché in Paris. It’s a good place to stop by in the morning on a moving day because it’s close to Gare de l’Este and Gare du Nord. They have a lot of deli items, so it’s fun to buy a deli here and eat it while taking the TGV. The prices are a little reasonable. There are a lot of shops, so I recommend you to buy at the shops where the locals are lined up, because they don’t like expensive shops.

The marche is located right next to Père Lachaise Cemetery. It’s about 200 meters in a straight line from the grave of Jim Morrison, who was the singer of The Doors. It’s quite affordable and the stuff they carry is good. It’s not far from “Sot-l’y-laisse”, which is always a good restaurant, so you might want to visit the marché before lunch. Cooks might know that there’s a great cook’s court nearby called Bragard.

Marché biologique Place du Père Chaillet

This is the BioMarche near the Voltaire station. I’ve never been to this marché either, as I don’t often go to this area. The opening hours are long on Wednesdays, so it would be nice to buy some souvenirs here and then go to Septime Cave, which opens at 4:00 p.m. to drink wine in the evening, but I’m sure I’ll get drunk and forget a lot of things. Marche is also fun and I recommend FrenchTrotters, SoWeAre and Les Fleurs.

This is one of the marchés I go to the most. I often take my friends there when they come, it’s a great place to see and reasonably priced. There is also a bakery called Blé sucré, famous for its croissants, and the best restaurant in Paris, Virtus (a Michelin star), is close by. There is a great cheese shop in the indoor marché, the larger of the two shops.

The marché is located in an area close to the Plaza de la Nacion, which is often elected by protesters. It’s open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but I wouldn’t recommend going on Saturdays. Or maybe the station is closed some weeks… but it’s not too expensive in the area and there are some pretty good quality products.

The marché is right near Bercy station, which I use when I go to Burgundy and other places. There is a big Bercy park nearby, and the Seine River is just beyond, so you can go shopping for a picnic. I’ve heard some people say that the quality of the food is not good enough for the high price, so you’d be missing out if you don’t choose well. You’ll also need to be careful that it’s open in the evening on Wednesdays.

Things are pretty good and affordable, but I rarely go to this area because I don’t have anything to do around here. If you go south, there’s a big park with a pond, so you can eat some prepared food bought here or something in the park. Don’t worry about the lack of registered shops, they seem to sell Arab delicacies, etc. The HFH (Fédération hospitalière de France) next door is a French hospital federation, it says hospital, but it’s not a hospital.

This is the marché right near the Station-F, the largest incubation and accelerator office in Europe. You can see another large painting of a woman on the right side of the photo, but the walls of the apartment buildings around here have some pretty big graffiti on them, and it’s fun to walk around and look at it. It’s a pretty affordable area to stay in and the marche is affordable. Aside from the “Station-F”, you can also go shopping at Vente Ephemere, a little over 10 minutes’ walk away, for Petit Bateau outlets.

It’s a small marché, but it has a good reputation. It’s just a 10-minute walk from here to the flea market in Vanves. It’s the best Sunday to buy some breakfast dishes and go to Petite Ceinture, an old railroad station park near here, and then head to the flea market.

This marché is located within walking distance to the flea market in Vanve. It’s suburban, affordable, and the atmosphere isn’t bad. There’s also a small park about 2 minutes walk away, a 5 minute walk to the east side of the park, Monsoorie Park with a pond, perfect for a picnic, and if you walk to the other side of the park, you’ll find the Vanve flea market. It’s a good place to go to Van Vu on a Saturday and have a picnic on a Wednesday.

This is a great place to shop for good, reasonably priced goods. I recommend it if you’re staying in the Vaugirard or Pasteur area of Montparnasse. The Pasteur Institute, founded by Pasteur, who developed a vaccine for rabies, is just around the corner. There is also a museum where you can see the equipment that was used in medical research in the past, so people in the medical industry might want to go there (lol).

It’s a wonderful marché, one stop from my house, directly connected to the station, and under an elevated train tracks, so you don’t get wet in the rain. It’s an area where land prices are fairly high, so it might be expensive if you don’t choose the right shop. I often buy a block of pork belly at the butcher’s shop just inside the marché from Grenelle station. They sell a terrine type of pork belly for 1€ each, so I sometimes buy that too (lol). I don’t think there is anything that good for vegetables… I’d say the one on the right side of the station, much further away from the station, but maybe not so great…

The marché is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I recommend it because it’s in the suburbs so prices are cheap, but it’s not a safe area. It’s near the Porte du Versailles, where Salon du Vin is held, so it’s interesting to stop by before the Salon. If you go towards the Seine River, there is a large park where there used to be a former Citroën factory, which is good for a picnic. , a place with pleasant music, is recommended.

A small marché near the Georges-Brassens Park and the Porte du Versailles. The marché started around 1930, when the walls that surrounded the outside of Paris were demolished, but it’s not as big now, so you don’t have to go if you’re not staying nearby.

Passy is in an upscale residential area, very close to the Eiffel Tower and other landmarks, so it’s a nice place to live. The glass block windows and other elements of the atmosphere are also nice, so it’s nice to have lunch here and then walk in the afternoon to the Palais de Chaillot on the other side of the Eiffel Tower.

The Marché de l’Haute-Euille, home to the French Open Roland Garros and Paris Saint-Germain’s stadium, Le Parc des Princes. It’s a bit exciting to see a collection of cheap marchés in a small place. It’s not very convenient and it’s gone by early afternoon on both Wednesdays and Saturdays, so if you’re just in the area in the morning, I recommend it.

Marché Amiral Bruix

The marché is located on the side of the Forest of Boulogne, which is home to the Fondation Vuitton Museum and the Marmottan Museum, which is home to works by Monet. This little marché is reasonably priced, but it’s probably not an area I’d go to unless I had to go to the Boulogne Forest… From this marché, it’s about a 20-minute walk through the park to the Fondation Vitton Museum.

Marché couvert des Ternes

The marché is located a little further out in the suburbs. It’s safe to say that it’s open indoors, and they are open many business days, even on rainy days. There are several cafes along the street where you can have lunch. But if you want to get here, you can go to Marché Couvert de Levallois) (Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays: it’s wide open if you go from 7 to 1pm) on the other side of the same station, about a 10-minute walk away. They have a wide selection of products and are inexpensive. They also have various shops nearby.

This is another affordable marché, but it’s an area where you don’t have much to do. If you’re on your way to the Porte du Champeret and other places where the Spring Salon du Vin is taking place, you can stop by in plenty of time, but if not, I don’t think you need to go.

Marché Navier

This is a smaller marché located north of Montmartre, just before the Parisian city limits. It’s affordable and has a nice local feel to it, but if you’re going to go here, there’s a large indoor marché in Batignolles about a 10 minute walk away, so I’d recommend going there. If you’re not staying nearby, you don’t have to go…

Marché couvert La Chapelle

The Marche is located further north from Gare du Nord. The area may be a little bit difficult for Japanese tourists to visit, but there are many good shops around here. If you look at a partridge for 6€ per bird, I think you can get it for about 50-70% of the city price. If you go there, I recommend you to go to Cafe Romi beyond the overpass, or BOB’S BAKE SHOP in the south.

Marché Barbès

This is the marché under the elevated Metro Line 2. The shops are crowded together in a small space, so you might feel like you’re in Eastern Europe or another country. There are also many African and Arab delicatessen shops, and the prices are reasonable, so if you’re feeling adventurous, it’s a good place to go. If you want to enjoy the beauty of Paris, I wouldn’t recommend it.

I’ve only been to this area twice, and it’s not particularly close to any tourist attractions. There is a patisserie called La Goute d’Or, which was recommended to me by a patisserie chef who works in Paris, about 5 minutes walk away.

Marché Villette

This marché is located in Belleville, the biggest Chinatown in Paris. The prices are cheap and they even sell live shrimp in sacrificial cups. You can have a Chinese breakfast in Belleville and go to the marché. This marché was also built during the post-war reconstruction period and was founded in 1949. There is a Chinese supermarket near the train station in Belleville that sells cheap sesame oil, mangoes, yams, etc.

Marché Porte Brunet

The marché is close to Parc de la Villette and the Paris Philharmonic concert hall. It’s not expensive, but the s are reasonable, so if you’re not staying in the area or something, you don’t have to go. But if you’re staying in the area, it’s a must-do. This marché also has a long history and has been around since 1933.

Marché Belgrand

Marche is located near Père Lachaise Cemetery. The price range isn’t bad, but it’s not in a very convenient area, so you don’t have to go there if you don’t have anything in particular to do… If you’re an Oscar Wilde fan, go there while you’re at it, as it’s only about 400 meters from Oscar Wilde’s headstone.

Marché Télégraphe

If you’re staying east of the 11, I recommend this marché right outside the metro. It’s affordable and the stuff is pretty good. But there’s nothing to see here, so you don’t have to spend half the day just for the marché… I would say that the marché was founded in 1844, and the Oscar Wilde Museum is nearby.
